Default Remote starters on the Audi

2000 A4 2.8 turbo with auto trans, looking to put remote starter on it, asked about it at the dealer they said they don't recomend it due to having problems (electrical) with it down the road with warranty items that will be blamed on having the started wired to the factory harness. What have you guys installed for started on your cars and have you ever had troubles with the dealers down the road.

Hmm this exact thread was posted a couple months back... regardless, I don't recommend one either -- our owners manual says not to let our cars idle, when first starting it... they say "start the car, and drive off slowly" or something to that effect. Dunno if you plan on starting the car seconds before you get into it... but most people tend to leave them idling there for a couple minutes... not recommended.

The only thing is that when it's 25-30 below 0degrees celsius in the winter (Alberta Canada) to jump in the car and drive off can't be good for the drive line not to warm up a little. This wouldn't be a problem if I had a garage that is heated but I don't and the car doesn't have a block heater either.

I'm aware, I had several days here in ontario this winter where it was -25 or colder, and yeah, a block heater would probably be nice... but I'm just stating what the owners manual says.

I heard audi can install a block heater in our cars, for a rather large sum of money. I believe i semi looked into it this past winter.

Thanks headshok2002 for the info, I wasn't trying to be a wisea**. It seems crazy to sell cars in a country where the cold climate might have a factor on your brands rep. To the Audi engineers ."Just put the block heater on from factory already".
