Rearview mirror

Rearview mirror
My rearview mirror completely detached from the windshield. I was thinking of heading to the nearest Autozone to buy like a repair kit. Anyone know if this will work in the long term or would it just fall off after a week?

RE: Rearview mirror
Should work fine if you get the rearview mirror kit and do it right and follow the directions.
Do not take short cuts IE: If it says completely clean both surfaces, then make sure they are perfect. No bumps lumps or mumps. If it says use glue sparingly, then put just a little on there etc.
I have tried the shortcut, and yes, lasted two days.
Followed the directions word for word, and it lasted over a year until I got rid of the car... Of course this was several years ago...not sure if it is still on there.

RE: Rearview mirror
My dad's rear view mirror fell off on his 96... any windshield place should be able to fix it. He took it to apple autoglass... the guy fixed, and said "no charge -- If I can't guarantee it, you shouldnt pay for it"
It stayed on for a couple years afterwards... and I saw the car a couple months back, it's still on.
