Default rear diff fluid?

my rear diff has a slow leak, the diff started making a bit a noiseon the to my gf house tonight, i cant tend to the seal till this weekend or tomorrow night but i have a bit of a drive from my gf house to work and then work blah blah... wanted to know what kind of fluid, and if its just regular gear oil, going to have my gf uncle add some in the AM when he opens up his shop then fix the seals later, if the seal is real bad i might let him change it if he can but i dought it..
if it makes a bit of noise is that usually then end of the rear diff.. or do i have a chance..

I've got a leaky seal too, and have had it since i owned the car. It weeps a bit, but i see nothing on the ground so I'm not worried. Check the wheel bearings. Replace your diff fluid and fix the seal then you'll know what it is.

Too bad I'm too lazy to fix mine...

rear Axel very minor leak not justified for a strip down, refill with a leak seal lubricant like slick50 bearing is totally different sound from the rear and only heard while on the move ( it increases the faster you go ) also jacking the wheel off the ground and rotating it you should here a course crunchy sound
