I have a 97 A4 2.8 and my rear defroster won't turn on. If I press the rear defroster button, the light comes on for a second and then turns off. I have checked all of my fuses and they appear to be fine. Another note is that my cigarette lighter will not work either (not sure if this is related in any way to the rear defroster issue). If anyone has any insight as to why the rear defroster will not turn on, it would be greatly appreciated.

 

i know that the rear defrosters are setup to turn off after a certain amount of time. I am not sure how exactly that works but would think that it is part of the switch, it could be quite possible that your switch is bad, and that is causing it to shutoff early.. just a thought
