the real question 1.8 - 2.8

RE: the real question 1.8 - 2.8
I would love to see some of the hard numbers for all these superheros in their fast CHipped 1.8s! Winning a "race" on the street in your automatic 1.8T doesnt prove anything, other than that maybe the other guy wasnt even racing you... lol
and also These claims of masssive increases in horsepower, again I think this is dependant on a number of factors and the quality of the mods. A lot of poor quality mods can actually reduce performance...
Finally in defence ofthe Turbos - I can't see them being a problem for reliability. They only need replacement if abused. With proper care a turbo is a lifetime item on a car, and should last "forever,"

Parts spinning at thousands, or tens of thousands of rpms and extreme heat will not last forever... Bearings go bad, seals go bad, even the shaft itself is capable of wear and tear... What would you consider proper care? I know people who replace oil every 3K with synthetic and run a turbo timer, the turbo will still die evintually... 100K miles out of a turbo shouldnt be a problem if you take care of it and dont drive hard all the time...

i love 1.8's, i think there awesome cars to mod, but on the flip side, when running a quarter mile (up to 100mph) a stock 2.8 will outrun a chipped, AND CHIPPED ONLY, 1.8......

but the ko3 turbo's turbine actually relies on the backpreasure caused by the cat and small exhaust to get it to spin and make torque earlier. been proven that an exhaust, TP, and intake do little to nothing in performance gains once you chip your car

Everyone tells me i should have bought a 1.8t and somethime i wish i di but im happy with my 12v. i personnly think its rev faster, is more reliable than any turbo motor and i love the sound of this particular N/A motor. Im quite happy with my 2.8 and the only thing i would trade up for is a 2.0t or 2.7t. otherwise ill stick with my old school 12v.
