You guys have to consider that the prices on A4s are significantly higher in Canada than in USA. I haven't seen an A4 for $6000CAN in ... ever. I just did a quick search, and the average asking price for a 98 A4 is $9700CAN.

thanks everyone... I guess I was off base with my expectations. I've been checking autotrader.com, cars.com and even craiglsists for many of the major metropolitan areas and the asking price for low mileage 98-01 A4 2.8 avants has always been in the high 8's low 9s ++... if you go to 80-90k miles then it drops down to $6-7k. Are the prices higher becuase it is winter?? Should i expect someone to drop that much below Blue Book value?
I'll keep looking... I appreciate your feedback and especially the fact that no one has flamed me (yet....)

You are kind of missing the point..........
You are right. lower mileage vehicles in good shapewould normally bring a higher price....
But the car you are looking at mentioned a bunch of possibly major issues, like TB, tranny, etc.
So, yes, if the car was in great shape, with low miles, then maybe I would say 8-9k is reasonable. But this one.......no way.
So, keep looking (best choice) or offer them a lot less (still a chance for major problems later).
Good Luck!

I would seriously keep looking.. While those aren't huge problems, they're still problems. And lease returns kinda scare me. I don't think I'd ever buy one, partially cause I know people who have leased cars, and what hell they've put them through. 8k oil changes and all..
