You have to take out the back dash. Mine (99.5 a4) came out this way... There are two white snap/pegs thet come down from the dash and snap through holes in the sheet metal. I used my interchangeable screw driver with no bit. The opening in the screw driver is the right size to fit over the snap/peg. I pushed it over the peg and the inner diameter of the screw driver depresses the outer diameter of the peg and snaps the them throught the sheet metal. Once it is unsnapped the entire dash slides forward about an inch and three ledge type clasps are free then the dash is free to come straight up.

DON'T pry on the speaker covers. You might get them off but you will trash them in the process.

you can check the impedance of the spreaker to see if it is blown...that is the quickest way...or take the speaker out push on it and if you hear rubbing or scrapping that is a bad speaker. rubbing/scrapping that means the coil inside the speaker has **** the bed n the speaker will need to be replaced. blown speakers still play, they just sound like crap but they still play...

i glued the cone back down and now it works great, for anyone with the same problem.... i used super gel because it stays where it is a little better super glue is kind of watery and spreds out. but i have no more rattling or anything the work perfectly (and for a second i thought i had two blown speakers)

First off, it is true that you cannot directly integrate aftermarket speakers into the premium bose system in the symphony package. The bose system uses an integrated amplifier which runs off of a different load then the new speakers or new amplifier. When I replaced my bose system, i had to disconnect the amplifier and run new speaker wire from my radio to my speakers.

I mean, you could add the speakers in with the stock bose radio and it would sound great for a few months, but they'd blow after that and you're out a good 150$ for a good set.

That being said, just because there are no rips or holes in the speaker, it doesnt mean the voice coil isn't blown, then you're really in trouble. In fact if the coil is blown, it sounds just as bad, if not worse than a speaker with a hole or a rip.

Just wanted to add a voice the the "super glue fix", it worked for me.

Two other things for those searching:

1. Infinity sells 2 ohm 6.5 and 5.25 in. speakers.

2. I had a hard time checking the cone (thevery center dome that feels likecardboard)forseperation, it wouldn't move until i tried moving it sideways.

Good luck,
