WTF, usually those things are almost welded in place with rust.

 

pre cat or post cat o2 sensor?

if its your pre cat then you could have lean/rich issues...

if its post cat then nothing will come of harm .. you just might throw CELS saying the cats not doing its job...


Is the threading on the bung or the sensor thats bad?

What version engine is the the 2000? ATW? I think ECS sells cheap VW o2's that work for ATW's ... or was is AWMS....

 

i looked this morning in better light. the threads of the sensor are bad. hopefully the bunghole is ok. haha bunghole...

ok stupid question time. The cat is right there under the hood? i thought CCs were under the car back by the muffler. Anyway its the sensor just below the cat (post). So its alright to cruise like this for a few days?

 

OK problem solved. Just posting in case anyone else experiences the same.

Went to my service guy and he just got in there with a wrench and got it to re-thread. asked for 20 bucks and he got 10.

the rattle is gone. i am happy.

so.... If you hear a rattle it could be: the cat converter, the wastegate, or a loose O2 sensor! who wuddah thunk it.
