ALright, so today i was next to a wall and i noticed a rattle/chatter when i give it gas in neutral from 900-1000 RPM's.
what could this be? its deff cming from the tranny area. could it be the LWFW?

its distrubingggggggggggg me.

heat shield on the exhaust or something lose

 

could be your cats, my old dodge had the dame sound and it was the cats but i don't want to compare audi to dodge.

 

My vote also for heat shield least expensive option to try first. just tighten some bolts

 

remove the heat shields they do nothing apart from rot

 

so you guys really think its the heat shield? hmm

it only does it in neutral between 900-1000rpm's when i give it gas. man i thought it was the tranny or something. the chatter/rattle is the same as the lwfw under acceleration when giving it gas in gear, but this is much louder than that.

 

Try the heat shield but that's what I heard on my old A6 when the cats died.

How hard is it to take the heat shield off?
