depends on both cars mods

my bro-in-law has a 2500 cummins that runs in the 14's........ see a 2500 smoke a srt-4

now on the other hand the 1500 could have anything from a 6 to a v10
with good mods he would be in the 14's too

but if he is pretty stock and you know how to drive you should walk a 6 to a small 8, get a 5.9 or a v10 and that might be trouble

if it's stock, it doesn't matter what engine is in it, that truck won't run a quarter mile any faster than 18+ seconds. I would hope that you could walk a 5000lb+ pickup truck, even with a 5.9 V8. that 5.9 is no marvel of engineering anyway.

the cummins diesel, on the other hand, is quick. if he's chipped and has full 5" exhaust, you might be in trouble. my dad has an '01 2500 cummins with a chip and that thing hauls ***, it's a blast to drive especially with a 6 speed.

I would just let him go on his dumb hillbilly *** way and haul something. Leave the racing to cars.

I'm not convinced even a hemi ram would beat a 1.8T A4. they're not that quick... and who said it was an auto 1.8T? and how can you "know how to drive" a 2wd v8 truck? push the gas pedal to the floor, that's about it. they're nearly all automatics.

it's still a hell of a lot of weight, the power to weight ratio on our cars is still better than it is on most pickups.

ok, let me meet you with a ram 1500 auto and i will beat your a4....... on a serious not, these cars weigh alot too, put down about 150-170 hp stock, those trucks put down anywhere from 250-400 hp.... i have driven both and would like to see it, but i say the ram wins...... depending on what model and mods

ram 1500 auto? what year? which motor?

I'd take that race in a heartbeat, 'fact I'd do it for slips. 250 hp on a 5000 lb truck isn't great. in fact, unless you're talking about really new trucks (5 years or newer), most ram 1500's had the 5.2, which was a total dog, I doubt it puts out more than 200 hp.

it isn't just about power and weight, either. the audi has a close-ratio manual transmission, while the truck has a lazy, 4-speed, automatic transmission with probably a 1200 stall torque converter. no contest, the audi wins this race every time.
