questions for people with Test pipes
I was recently looking into test pipes for my 2000 a4 1.8t Q and had a few questions for people who have a test pipe.
1. Does the car back fire now that it doesnt have a cat?
2. Is it alot louder with the test pipe? id perfer it wasnt.
3. Do you see a big difference in performance....hp and torque gains?
4. Exactly how hard is installation? I know where its located and where I would have to put it but is there alot of work involved and are there other things you have to take off at the same time?
5. Do you get a check engine light? I heard of o2 simulators which trick ur car into thinking there is a cat so u dont get a cel but do these type of things actually work? and where would I go about getting something like an 02 simulator?

RE: questions for people with Test pipes
i am pretty interested too, they have a group buy on audizine.com mine is an 04 but i think u have to have a chip to get rid of the CEL, i hope just the APR basic chip will make it go away... someone else told me about 4 hours on install just cause the bolts are a PITA

1) I get a few pops on decel...
2) it kind of drones, but the turbo is MUCH louder.
3) On my non-chipped a4 i felt gains..
4) its a pretty big PITA.. but it can be done..
FYI: MY mods APR Chip, APR 2.5" Exhuast, ATP 3" Test Pipe.

4- If you don't have an exhaust sytem, get one and install it at the same time. The bolts connecting the cat to he downpipe are an incredible pain in the *** for 2 reasons, 1- they're rusted to hell and 2- they're a bitch to reach.
5- If you get a hold of a VAG-Com, you can program the ECU to ignore that there's no cat.

all you have to do is space out the second o2 sensor and hte cel stays away

anyone have instructions for that vag com mod so it will ignore the CEL or whatever? APR dealer told me i would still have a CEL even with the chip

RE: questions for people with Test pipes
what you do is get two 18mm spark plug non foulers, drill one out so the tip of the o2 sensor goes through it then put it on the o2 sensor then screw the second on to that one then put it in to the test pipe.... I did it to mine and no cel or anything

what do u mean space out the second o2 sensor, because i thought the TP had two threaded holes in it for the o2 sensor, i couldnt change that could i?
