Hey guys...![sm=alcoholic.gif]I want to tint my taillights. Can I do it without gettinga ticket from cops? and I also want to tint all around to illegal point [sm=badbadbad.gif]? Do cops stop a lot for all around tint? If anyone has tintd taillights can you please post pictures? and also Im thinking not just tint taillight, but leave out the back up light without tinting. I live in California.

 

Dude, it is hard here in Cali. I live down in San Diego and I know a bunch of people including me who constantly get pulled over for our tint. Usually windows but sometimes tailights too.I finally said f*** it and took off the tint and put a lighter tint (light smoke) onand I haven't been pulled over since. But it doesn't look as good as the black tailights by a longshot.It's just the nature of the beast.Because of all the racing going on if you have a car that looks like you race it your gonna get pulled over if they see anything illegal on it.

I don't know about cali, but here in VA, if you don't get a ticket, you just get unwanted attention from the cops... However I think it would look sweet..

 

In CA, the law is 70% for front windows(meaning that 70% light must come in/factory tint) and the rest have no limits. I do not know about the tail lights.

 

Same thing here in my province Alberta, but its not stopping me from doing it! Best thing I would say is go talk to some younger cops when you run into them and ask for honest advice! I got lucky and got more than what I bargained for they kinda went out of their way and steped into my shoes! They said dont tint LIMO dark but 30%-35% is okay and some cops might pull you over the older guys he said! But in truth there is no such fine in our province for too dark of a tint so if you get a ticket its some bogus excuse just because they didnt like you or doing a check up! The guy said if the regular driver that I pull over is being an *** I make him take the window tint off or tow the car and especially if they are speeding! He also said the laws have changed and are more flexible on this part now! So the best person to ask would be someone that deals with it on a day to day basis!!

 

the law in cali w/ tailight tint is that the light must be visible from 1000ft.

 

good luck when it's pooring rain, and some guy rear-ends you because he can't see your tail lights........

 

Here is a picture of my tint. I haven't had any problems yet. I even got pulled over for speeding and he didn't say anything about the taillights or my tinted windows. I got it from Lamin-x.com. Its the lightest that they have available. At night, you can hardly tell that the lights are tinted. And under most light, you can't see any of the red from the taillight.

 

dude iam not a fan of tinted tails...they're not soo hot and kinda annoyin...good luck parallel parkin somewhere with tinted tails and lights and like 01a4t said rain could be bad...i have pretty dark window tints and they are awasome...a little annoying in the dark but u get used to them... also i think black cars are mad nice with some red on them but thats just my opinion
