Ok if I had 500-1000 right now in your case like I said if you plan on doing the K04 down the road get the GIAC chip and a DV valve for now and yea you can do the exhaust later go with the GIAC chip just because it will save u money down the road when u get the K04 I don't think APR has a chip for the K04 yet and GIAC has tyhe trade in value on the old chip too

You can just add the K04 but you will not notice that much gains without the proper chip but there are also different chips for the K03 that is on there now and the K04 so u can not use the chip for the K03 to run the K04 properly

2001 with the GIAC x-chip is a mad gain.

K69camaroz28@aol.com: I am stock internals with a GIAC chip. The difference with the car is like night and day.

Yeah a Quattro, I know you sacrifice performance but I need it for practicality purposes...

And if I wasn't going to go to a K04 later than go APR?

No hey Quattro is an amazing thing elpecially if you are going to be putting down ssome #'s I would still go with GIAC just a personal choice but u can go APR doesn't matter they are both reputable tuners if you are just going to get the chip

CL you have been great, so I am gonna keep firing away...and I appreciate everything...

So I see DV's run around $150? Is that common? Not much less than that?

Also at AWE what is the deal with GIAC Flashloader...I don't really understand what it is offering?

And then would I get the $50 chip switcher so that I can switch back to factory?

You have me sold on the GIAC...especially since it wont do me that much better to go with APR am I correct? And then when I get the exhaust on...I can start saving for the new Turbo and an upgraded chip...Sounds like a plan to me....

Now that you are sold on GIAC, get an APR. I went with APR simpley because AWE couldn't get me in for almost a month, whereas another tuner that carried tha APR could take me in 2 days.

Unless that is you want to upgrade to a K04, in which case GIAC will give you a break on the price of the new program.

You can get an Audi OEM diverter valve used in the TT. It is commonly referred to as the 710N. Cost is about 30-35 dollars on the net.

1. Aftermarket DV's run from 150-200 for a decent one - or you can get the OEM TT DV (710N) for about $35. Thats what I use.
2. The Flashloader is only available for the B6 (2002 and above) It allows you to change programs on your chip (ie returning it to stock programming when you like - for warranty service, etc)
3. APR does not build software for a K04 turbo. Go with giac if you want a K04 turbo. However if you just want the chip, go with the tuner closest to you - for service reasons.

The reason B5 chips give 50 hp and the B6 chips give 30 hp is this...
Both cars have the same 1.8t engine. But Audi allowed the envelope to get bigger with the B6, and pushed it a little harder than they did with the B5. But both engines still have the max limits to what is safely tunable without internal changes (or turbo upgrades) - which is around 200 hp.

haha I don't even know what the flash holder is this is the first I have heard of it mysel 150 is the average price for the DV valves if you have other people driving your car all the time u might want to be able to switch it back and forth that is up to u

another reason the B6 only gives 30hp is they already have the K03 sport in it like the 2001 B5's all the rest of the B5's have the stock shity K03 that only puts out 150hp

and Brrman are u right about it is safe to only run 200hp on stock internals look the some of the bigger turbo kits are running around 300 on stock internals I myself after I finish everything with my K04 J31 swap I want to be around 200WHP
