Problem filling ATF fluid
Hey Guys
I just changed the ATF filter, and I'm having some problems now with the fluid leaking out of the car. I filled it up to level. Car runs like a champion for 1 day and then I find a puddle of $30/Litre atf fluid on my driveway the next morning. WTF. Any ideas? THANKS

the pump doesnt get dropped when you drop the pan to change the filter. But, ya... You did change the pan gasket and tighten the drainplug right? Did you buy a new o ring for the drain plug or even lose the old one if reusing? all you have to do is get under there to see where its leaking from.

You don't know if you lost a big gasket while taking the filter and installing a new pan?

Question is did he add the oil and then button it up before warming the the transmission up? Proper service is to add the fluid and then warm the transmission up to some temperature(not sure what it is but it is in the repair manual). Once it has reached the temp and while keeping it running you tighten the draing plug and then turn the car off. As the tranny heats up things expand and it will push some of the fluid out. If you don't allow it to warm up you've overfilled the tranny and it's coming out of the vent.

No thats not right you need to fill the tranny pan before the ATF hits 32 degrees. That is why they say use a vag-com to read the therm sensor off the tranny pan. Also the hotter it gets the less ATF he will have in the pan, but I always see people filling the tranny and turning off the car till the ATF stops leaking out the fill hole (DONT EVER DO THAT) But he didn't put a gasket it seems. He doesn't even know if he installed one? He needs to tell us what he did so we can give you a better answer.
