RE: prelude vs a4
the Preludes H22 motor is actually one of the most powerful Honda engines. But the Type-SH is the heaviest body they put it in. The none SH prelude is almost a half a second faster in the 1/4 mile the SH, due to its almost 200 pound wieght difference. stock cross over on the H22 is ussually 4750rpm, and redlines at closer to 7500rpm. The built their peak HP 7000rpm 196 HP or so at close to it's redline. and peak torque at about 5500rpm with a high for Honda 156 pound feet. the hp and torque figures are two the wheels FYI.
this info off the top of my head, so don't take these figures as fact. I garuantee I'm freakin close though.
So I believe this would be a closer race if your buddy could drive. I aso bet your friend has large diameter wheels on his car. which is a serious Honda no no. There little torque can't spin them very well.

Heavy heavy car, I was in a 06 Mx-5 pure stock along with a friend of mine, a Type SH prelude with exhaust, headers, and intake (auto box though) raced with us, the car got omg owned. My A4 owns my friends Mx-5 =)
