Powder Coating Brakes...
Hey all, I recently got that DIY brake caliper paint, but I hear its complete $hit. I found a shop that'll powder coat them all for $120. My only prob is that I'm not familiar with the brakes yet, and I was wondering if anyone knew how to break them down before I go over there. Oh yea, 04' A4 1.8TQ.

Make sure the shop has done calipers before. There are many seals inside that will melt, if not removed. You will also most likely need a caliper rebuild kit if there even is such thing...I wouldnt want the rebuild to go wrong. I have my own small powdercoating business and I painted my calipers because of the problems that could occur

Well, its just like a very small business out of my garage that me and my friend started to make money on the side in high school, and now during summer we do occasional things. We are in the process of building a bigger oven, so currently "out of business" although should be back in running order in a couple weeks. I honestly wouldn't feel right powdercoating your calipers. I painted mine myself, not powdercoated because I wouldnt want to put them together wrong at find out at the wrong time. If you can get someone to rebuild them for you, then I could powdercoat them.

get a good caliper paint, i paid like 60 bucks for my caliper paint, its like a double layered compound that u brush onto the caliper. where if u used a caliper spray paint, the spray will not cover cracks or little nics in the caliper, this compound covers the whole caliper making it nice and smooth, and a very professional finsih. ima post picks when i get my new tag in and i debadge my trunk
