Default Possibly getting an A4

wel last week i got into a pretty serious accident and totaled my 95 z28, so i have to get a new car soon, my mom is not very keen on letin me get another camaro, one reason is that il be goin to college in about 6 months and she doesnt want my sister to drive that as her first car, so im gona be getin a new car very soon, ive almost convinced my parents to get me a 98 A4 quattro 2.8
how do you guys like these cars, im lookin at it cuz the awd and the luxury of it, i know its gona be slow as hell compared to my camaro but does it have decent power?

Hi A4ontheway, welcome to the forum. If you are concerned about the power then I would opt for the 1.8t. It has a much greater tuning potential than the 2.8. With little more than a chip, you can have more hp than the 2.8.

wel i really wasnt planning on doing much to the car performance wise, maybe a chip and intake for the 2.8 if that would be availiable, but is that much easier to tune the 1.8t with a chip? cuz i wouldnt plan on doin to many upgrades

The 2.8 chip really isn't a very good investment. It will only gain you a few ponies and it's expensive. An intake really won't give you much HP as Audi airboxes are well flowing. And yes the 1.8t is much easier to tune than the 2.8. There really isn't much out there for the 2.8 except a 5k dollar supercharger.

chips for the 1.8T can add anywhere from 30-40hp depending on the tuner. there are many options available for the A4's

Usually you take your car to a dealer nearby for install. I think you can send your ECU to them for installation too.

i'd recommend going with a tuner that is close to. tell us where you're located and i'm sure someone here can recommend a shop. as for chips theres many options -- neuspeed, giac, apr, revo, ams, oct, mtm, dahlback, sportec, etc.
