Possible A4 Purchase..But..Are Water Pumps Commmon Issues?
I am thinking of purchasing a 2005 1.8T A4 Quattro. We took it in for a PPI and the tech said that when he started the car he could hear some sort of a little noise in the engine that he assumed to be the water pump. He also said that since they are in there that they should do a serpentine belt and tensioners also.
The car has 60,000 miles.
So my question is, does this seem out of the ordinary to have these issues on this car with this many miles for this year? Also do water pumps seem to be a common issue with these cars? Since I have been searching for A4's I see on a lot of the ads that people say new water pump, so I am assuming this happens fairly often? Also anything else that you have to add would be greatly appreciated. Anything special to look for or any other known issues would be great to know.
Thank you for your time.
