I just sold my K03 "s" version for $160 with 29K on it.
I was in sort of same boat. When I bought my A4 in 2004, I couldn't afford a B6 S4 and didn't really like the body style of B5 (that's what I traded in, a B5 A4). Fast forward 3 years and my situation is different, but instead of buying an S4 i chose to make the A4 in to something.
And I'm glad I did. It's more fun to DIY and tinker and see finished products. And at this point, and S4 would need modded pretty good to beat me.
My insurance is less, my gas mileage is better. My only regret is not having the V8 sound of a B6. But with B5, that didn't matter since it wasn't a V8.

Drkenan : Best way to clean up a car is to go get it detailed, I detail cars myself alllllll day long and trust me, light scratches and dog fir will clean up probably better than you could imagine. I've done some really good buff jobs on cars that I thought were pointless and looked almost brand new when finished. I would look around the area and see what you got detail wise, if its a good detail shop then they should really be able to make a difference. To bad your not closer I'd offer to help out.

Yeah, i mean by replacing the turbo and detailing, it may run you for a few hundred dollars all together but in the end you can probably make thousands back selling the car IMO

Amen, a good detailer can add some substantial value back to a car, or atleast give it that appearance.

Yea, get the S4, but be prepared to dump random money into it at any time.

Second, the detail thing, a nice & clean car, give the impression it has been cared for. It also makes it look newer & better then it actually is. Definitely adds value on the resale.

LMAO - that's actually kind of what I'm scared about. It seems like now I always have to throw $500 into my A4 at random times but the S4 is more like $1000. Anyway, I appreciate your advice and the offer to help detail my car. It's looking likea pretty good plan but I will decide over the weekend.

Thanks!

Double the turbos, double the expenses. I used to race a dual engined cart years ago, & it was almost twice as expensive as a single cart. If you want a s4, get a v8.
