As stated in another post, I finally blew my K03 last weekend. Of course I immediately wanted to upgrade but the thought of dropping $2k+ into my car at this point isn't all that attractive.

At the same time, a local Audi mechanic and friend called me out of the blue 2 days ago and told me about a 2000 S4 that has only 68k miles, hasbeen chipped and has an exhaust. I could probably get for around $15k and use the A4 upgrade money for a downpayment.

I think I'm the most indecisive person in the world. Can you guys help me out? Thanks in advance!

 

Well that depends....If it is performance you are looking for, just get the S4 and call it a done deal. However, if you are short on change, just upgrade the turbo, get some performance gains, and end up with a perfectly running Audi for MUCH less than 15k.
That also depends on your current mileage etc.
So really it depends on your cituation, either way you have an audi

 

Get the S4... I think everyone will tell you that. Just make sure to check on insurance rates first. You just might **** your pants.

if you do go with the S4, which i would do personally. . why don't you just sell your 1.8t and use that money as well as the $2k that you have as a larger down payment? Then you should only be financing less than half of it. . . but man shance at an S4 like that i'd take it

 

Thanks for the replies ya'll. Unfortunately I don't know how I'd be able to sell my 1.8t with a blown turbo but that would be super sweet to get some money for it and apply to the S4. I checked with my bank and they don't finance cars that are older than 5 years so I'm kind of screwed with that. And as far as insurance goes, I'll definitely have to check on that.

Right now it looks like I'm keeping the A4 but if I can somehow secure financing I'll probably go for the S4. It will hurt to turn down the S4 for sure if that's what it comes to.

 

You can find a working used k03 for $100-$200 easily. Watch the classifieds. Get one, put it in, sell, get S4. Its a simple 4 step process.

exactly what he said though, a couple hundread dollars and your A4 is instantly worth around blue book again.

sell A4, buy S4

ps. lost of banks policies are 10 yrs old can get financed, so look around at more than one bank. afterall banks will do anything to take your money! haha

 

Deff worst case, get the K03 rebuilt, and go get it thought you cant wait long, id say grab S4 and then fix a4 and put that money towards loan. Would be the best way, would gaurantee you get s4 and sell a4 for as much as possible.

 

Good call! The only other problem is that even though my A4 runs well (sans turbo at the moment) it doesn't look so hot. I've never been one to care about little scratches and rips in the seats so I've definitely got a few of those happening. Plus my dogs have been having their way with the backseat for over 2 years now. You can never get ALL dog fur out. Anyway, I guess I could alwayslower the priceand get like $3k or something for it.

I'm definitely gonna talk to other banks as well. I have 11 accounts of all types with this bank and they still won't give me a loan. [:@]
