Default Performance boost after computer reset?

Hey everyone, i have an 01 1.8TQ that has had the check engine light on since i bought it. the code reads engine running too lean, which we believe is a vaccuum leak. the car has been sluggish recently at low rpms, but after i reset the computer by killing the battery for 10 mins, the car runs much better and the turbo is much louder for about 20 miles. any idea what causes this? thanks

Default RE: Performance boost after computer reset?

the stored codes caused the car to either limit boost to 5psi (limp mode) or pulled timing to protect the car. If the codes come back, so will the loss of performance
