Panasonic DP600 CD Changer
Hi,
I'm looking to get a CD Changer for my 2001 A4 avant. I know that a stock supplied Changer will just plug right in but does anybody know of any other changers that will fit. i.e. combination of changer / cable converter, or a supplier in the UK that specializes in this stuff.
Also, is the Panasonic DP600 used as the OEM for Audi CD Changers and does it plug straight in (it has the 13pin connector I believe). Does it need a cable converter ?
Any response appreciated !

If you are in the UK, I'd check with audi-sport
These guys are primarily in the UK and will have greater access to this kind of info for you.

RE: Panasonic DP600 CD Changer
I found this very useful link ...
http://memebeam.org/toys/AudiHacking
It gives details of how to modify a Panasonic DP601 or DP610 to work in an Audi A4.
You simply short pins 8 and 11 of the 13pin connector, simple .
I recently bought a DP600 off Ebay and applied the mod. (some savvy with a soldering iron is required here).
The circuit board on the DP600 is a bit different than the one illustrated in the above link but the principle is the same. You have to use a meter to find where pins 8 & 11 connect to the circuit board. I used a wire to bridge the 2 connections rather than a solder blob.
You obviously have to trade off the risk of buying from ebay and doing the messy stuff against the cost advantages.
I found it was a 15 minute job and saved around £150 . Audi changers seem to trade hands between 150-200 quid. Got mine for £33.
