Default Palomar Run #2 Reflections

Not sure if our recent socal meet warrants a thread as there was only 5 audiforums dudes (including the one from norcal) but what the heck.

I guess several major things happened today that is worth noting:
1) COPS!!! -- There were soooo many cops it wasn't funny. If I can recall correctly I counted, 1 (camping on they way down the 76), 2 (The one that told us to get off the shoulder and DRIVE so his friends could catch us, 3 (the moto cop that pulled a biker), 4-5-6 (That were waiting at the top), and then 6-7-8-9 (That passed in front of us to get some grub. COPS ruined what was supposed to be a great day. But at least I think no one was hurt, injured, ticketed, etc. We will have to wait for Nam's report because of what happened in #2
2) Cheng and Jason made a right turn instead of a left. About 2 miles after the group made a left turn someone radio'ed "lets stop/pull over" so I did later to find that no one actually pulled over. As I saw some several black blurs pass by, I noticed I didn't see any silver blurs which meant Cheng and Jason are amiss. I radioed them but no answer. So I decided to drive back in search for them trying to use the best of my 3 mile radius radio with no luck. After several minutes of searching I'm finally able to get through to Chengs cell and find that there basically at the 15 freeway or about 30-40 minutes away from the pizza place. We decided to break away from the pack and hit the casinio for grub and gambling.
3) I think this GTG had the highest combined car value. 3 E55 AMG's, Porsche 4S, amoung the audi crew. Sheesh.
4) So many old fogies driving old cars
5) Cheng getting raped by Hell's Angel's Chain Whips!

I'm sure there's others I'm leaving out but it was still fun! We will probably need to be better prepared next time ie. Looking for Palomar old fogies events and passing out maps.

Sorry I didn't take pics nor took video. I had both in my car but the cop pushed us to leave now!!!

Man.. these runs are getting intense...[]

my over heating audi was getting breathed on from behind by
AMG Benzo's & A Porsche Carrera 4S, & Mason's S4.

THanks to Rich & his one-man "search party". If not for the slow minivan
CHeng & I probably wouldv'e seen you guys make the left turn... [:@]
THanks for rescuing us... we were like Hansel & Gretel lost in the forest... looking for breadcrumbs...

It was like something out of a Pee Wee Herman movie - behind us we were being chase by
a bike gang swinging their chains, ahead of us were CHP speed traps, all the while
dodging mountain bikers, swerving motorcycles, and old classic antique racers going down hill

Oh & best of all... The RV that Rich & Cheng so bravely overtook on the way home... well [:'(] i got stuck behind him
all the way down.. doing a asphalt shredding 15 mph bec. he wouldnt pull over.[:@]

But defenitely a great day - got to meet a fellow member from up North & see some SICK AZZ rides.

Welcome back guys!

Hope that all of cops got their fill this weekend and won't be around next. I would much rather have been chasing some very expensive cars then closing down an account and hauling food. Looking forward to next weekend.

Cheers!

ok, my turn

what a day......... fun, sun, confusion, losing each other, cops, overheating, antiques, biker gangs, cops......... oh, did i mention cops.

yes, a lot of cops today. i pushed my A3 sooooo much harder than the last time i ran palomar with the audiforums guys, after we made that left turn, we all pulled over 5 miles later just to make sure everyone was in the caravan, i didn't have a radio with me so i thought we were all together. when we pulled over, we all noticed Richard, Cheng and Jason was missiong. we waited 5 mins, thinking that you were stuck behind a slow car.......... then we all got worried, i told the guys to go ahead to meet at the restaurant, i did my one man search and rescue team, went back to the intersection, went back up palomar (thinking that Jason overheated and had to stop on the way down), didn't see any audi's. thinking that i mightta passed you guys without knowing, i went back towards Julian to met up with the rest of the crew, STILL didn't see you guys. after talking to richard and finding out you were at the casino, Mason somehow snuck away and left while i was ordering food.

we all had lunch and noticed that our Audiforums Palomar run turned into and E55 gtg with two Audi's and a Porsche tagging along. after lunch, we headed towards Julian ( the fun way) going though our little back roads, got to Julian, found out that there was some HUGE HUGE HUGE Biker gtg in Julian, hence all the cops around Palomar and Julian area. i've NEVER seen Julian sooooo crowded before........ especially with bikers.

i tried to catch up with you guys at the casino but i kept getting stuck behind car after car after car after car. Ahhhhhhhh when i finally had svc on my phone, richard left me a msg letting me know that you all left already. what a day. a Fun run with the Audi Crew, meeting new Audiists, scarring the shiat out of drivers on hwy 15 with me and the E55's and Porches cruising at 100+ mph trying to get to Palomar on time.

oh, and on the way home, Some new A4 2.0T tried to test his car out next to mine........... the guy wasn't chipped and probably wondered how i sped up so fast.

definately a good time guys, despite all the cop action and slow @$$ cars. The run after the pizza place was a prettty good one. After nam took off it was down to two AMGs and the Porsche, and we did a few more crazy runs before we called it a day. Right before this one straight away Jangy (the crazy one in the 55 with the powder coated rear rims and OEM fronts) was like "PUNCH IT AND DONT BACK OFF TIL YOU HIT 140!" lol..these crazy cats. all in all it was a very cool day. i just wish i coulda done the run in my own car, then again...i didnt mind riding shotty in the benzo. great meeting all you southern guys! now...to start planning this NorCal meets SoCal g2g...
