Default paint protection

I just bought a 2008 A4 B7 Quattro manual sedan, deep ocean blue pearl effect.

What do people recommend for paint protection ? Wash, wax, other products, etc.

Thanks.

The clear coat will protect the paint. A good coat of wax can't hurt.

3mclear bra yeah if your up close you will notic it and when rocks hit it it will chip, but it lighten the chance of physical paint damge and cane be removed and a new one put on. also wax atleast 2 times a year, i hate it when people at work b!tch to me that their an egg spot on the car and clain that the wax oribtol did it,good they got egged. it alos protects the car from sun fade and lots of enviormental damage.

WAX. Wax is probably the most important thing you can do to your paint, it protect againt oxidants and containments, as well as making it look extra SHINY. Id wax once every 6 months for a dry climate and once every 3 months for a wet climate. A polish once a year wouldn't hurt either. Alot of people go by the 3-step program for detailing which involves Polish, Wax, and then a Sealer. I usually use Meguiar's products, but to each his own.

Wax will help protect it, and a good quality wax, none of that b.s. black magic **** like the cleaner waxes. Menzerna FMJ has a good wax/sealent, im about to try it out myself. But to help protect your paint even more is good washing, drying, claying, waxing techniques. Washing your car improperly can actually hurt your car more than notwaxing it. Go here http://www.audizine.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=73

When you guys talk about clear coat, is this what was applied at the factory ? If so, does it ever need to be re-applied ?

What is 3M Clear ? Is this Scotchgardâ„¢ Paint Protection Film ? Or something else ? Is this similar to what's applied at the factory ? Better ? Different ?

I'm not a big fan of the 3m bras/scotchgaurd becuase although it protects the front bumper from rocks and chips and sun damage but waxing the car leaves a line of wax where the bra ends. and the bra chips and i'm a fan of if the paint is going to fad it all fads together so i dont have two different colors of blue. Wax/seal is i think the best idea.

Couple questions on bumper paint cuts/chips/scratches ( the type of you get when parking un-parking parallel, or someone else does to you) :

1. what are solutions for protecting bumpers against this ? is the 3M solution decent ? any other solutions ?

2. what are solutions for touching up ? typically you get a cut with a little piece of paint is hanging off it. i think this is mainly from contact with license plates.
