Default P0171"System Lean; Bank 1"

well guys after a previous post of mine(in which many of you encouraged me to get it scanned) i decided to do that at the local autozone. i got the code "P0171" Bank one is running lean. any ideas on what could be the problem? could it be almost anything? anybody had this code and what was the outcome/solution. any help would be greatly appreciated. am i going to have to go to a stealership?

well, after my dummass did some more searching i saw a thread about the vacuum line near the top of the intake manifold.....sure enough its all frayed and messed up with a clamp missing now. SOOOOOOOO my legitimate question is what do i ask for when i go to the dealer in the morning? and will this hurt my car too much when i drive it there?

Just take a section of it with you, and go to any auto parts store, and buy a similar piece of hose. 4ft should be more than enough, and leave you some for the next time, or another repair.

Thats a good idea ACE. and to Turbo Kraut.......sorry i dont have a digital camera believe it or not but if you want to find it, it is very apparent. i opened my hood, and just look at the intake manifold. there are 4 channels of the manifold. they look like bars. look at the top "bar" of the intake manifold and you will see a small hose........ in my case it was very frayed and messed up. it is very hard to miss. Hope that helped.

You can drive with a vacuum leak. If it's the L shaped hose
between the G-12 reservoir and the intake manifold, remove the 3
screws that hold the reservoir to make room to work.

Yes, definitely check for the vacuum hose coming off the intake manifold. After installing a brand new air mass sensor, I threw the P0171 code again and then found this thread. To bad it wasn’t the other way around. Anyway, here a pic of what it looks like. I know it’s a little late, but I figured it couldn’t hurt.

TURBEAU, thanks alot for the pic. this was my exact problem and my hose looked almost identical. i went to autozone, and 2 dollars later...............problem solved. i know i saw another new thread about this problem and hopefully it will help the other guy out.
