overheat oil !!!
Hi all,
I have a 1996 A4 Quattro.
I just recently added some G12 engine coolant into the reservoir.
I drove around for about 1 hour or so until I realized that the temperature indicator for the oil is over 350F, which is overheated. (Ps: not the engine temperature indicator)
then I checked the engine coolant reservoir and I realized that I fill it up over the max point, so I drained some off.
It was fine for a little bit, but when I started driving the car again, it only took about 15 minutes for the oil temperature indicator reaches 350F (overheat).
Do you know whats wrong with it?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!!!!
HELP please....

RE: overheat oil !!!
I would have to say the more likely cause was a glitch in the sensor itself versus a high oil temperature. You have to drive with no oil, or at top speed for like 20 min for the oil temp to actually get that high.

RE: overheat oil !!!
the water coolant level was a little below the min level and it made my temperature light to go off every 30 min or so. Thats why i decided to add some coolant in to fix the problem.
However, before I added the new coolant in the car was running fine.
Btw, I only use the G12 pentossin for my engine coolant.

RE: overheat oil !!!
i flushed my coolent system when i changed my timing belt, and i got the system airlocked and it ran mad hot untill it bled its self, i wouldnt run it untill u know its getting the coolent. squeeze the tube coming from the head of the motor and see if u can see it squirt into the tank. if it doesnt, then its airlocked like mine was. it is the big black tube that goes into the front of the tank btw.... dont know what its realy called. hope this helps a little bit...
