i have a 2001 audi a4, which i think its over heating, i recently let it sit for a whole weekend in the cold, and got it in and drove it normally and the gauge shot up to 120 (which is max) let it sit again.. drove it around the corner and it maxed out, again.... someone help

 

Thermostat prolly stuck closed... however, check for bad coolant temp sensor or flow/water pump failure...

 

When it runs hot again feel the upper coolant hoses and the lower coolant hoses. If the lower hoses are cold than your water pump went out.
