One loud clunk!???
Hi I have A 2003 Audi A4 1.8t quattro 5 speed and whenever a take a corner hard at 15+ mph i hear a loud clunk on the front right side of the car near the wheel. It's Not the click click click sound a CV axle would make at all, Just one loud clunk. Any ideas what this could be? I am guessing ball joints or control arms? I have also heard that your wheel well liner can come loose and fall in hitting the wheel making that noise. I don't think this is the case because the wheel well liner is very secure. Thanks, any help appreciated.

It could be any of the folloowing:
1. Failed upper strut mount
2. BAd ball joints upper and lower
3. bad bushing somewhere else.
Only way to know for sure is to jack up the car and inspect the bushings. You can also bounce the car up and down by leaning on it and listening to see where the noise is coming from.
