lol ya my k04 has virtually no lag whatsoever

well 400 rpm ain't much so im sticking with a gt2871 .86...what about a gt3071 .64? how does that turbo comapare to the gt2871 .86?

so you would recommend the revo software over unitronics?

also i was looking at the atp kit. it comes with the turbo, manifold, intake, test pipe, and oil lines. turboand oil linesis 1200-1400, manifold ~400. i already have an intake and test pipe, so can i reuse those and save myself 600-800 bucks? its a evoms intake and eurocode test pipe (flange is 3 bolt pattern)

i have a ball bearing turbo for my datsun and honestly i will NEVER go back to a floating bearing. i just give it a flick and it spins FOREVER. Of corse its a much larger turbo than a t28 or t3. spend the extra money, you wont regret it. if i were you id get a gt28r.

damn that is one monster turbo. wish i could afford something like thatbut no way would that work on a DD. and i was thinking bout the gt28r but it just doesn't produce enough hp for me. i want at least 330whp so the fullgt2871r .86 a/r seems to fit my goals perfectly.

Oh and i was wondering whats the difference between the elim turbos and the full turbos?

elim turbo's are made to mount up to our existing manifold( has a modified turbine mount)where as full turbo requires a new manifold. I havn't heard to good of reviews for the elims so i would go for a full.

Newbie question... I have a stock 98 1.8t a4... What kind of turbo does it come with... And what would be the next turbo upgrade for it? And would I have to upgrade anything else? I don't want that big of a turbo... And I don't want to spend much money on one... And the other thing was... How easy is it to switch the two turbos? Could a beginner do it? Any help will be appriciated

you have a k03. next step up is a k04. its a "bolt-on" replacement. you dont have to change anything else and you should be able to do it yourself if you have common sense. you would have to get a new dv and possibly new tuning (some run k04's on stock k03 programming, some get GIAC). you dont have to upgrade the turbo tho. you could just get new tuning. right now your boosting at about 8psi. if you get a GIAC, APR, or REVO chip you be boosting near 16-21 psi. again you'd have to upgrade the dv but thats it. its 500 bucks for the chip (or you could go with inmotion chip for like 200 but they're relatively new and a small company, some have had problems, some love it, but i wouldn't recommend it) and dv is another 35 bux if you want a cheaper one (710n) or around 80-100 for a good one (forge 007). both will work fine if you dont plan on getting a bigger turbo than a k04.

Is it easy to take out the chip? And how long am I looking at for wait time... Cause I've read before that I need to ship it out... And the dv is that hard to replace?

when you chip it you remove your whole ecu and send it to them. normally turnaround is 2-4 days. dv is easy to replace however sometimes the clamps get stuck and need some influencing.

nope not hard at all. and not all places require you to ship your ecu. you could go to a tuner shop and they'll chip it for you in under 30 min. or you could try and find a used one in our classifieds or audizines. they work just as well as brand new ones and are usually slightly cheaper. dv isn't hard to replace either. unclamp old one, replace dv, reclamp new one and your done. shouldn't take more than 30 min even for a beginner
