the turbo and everything you need+ labor hours= around 7 grand

I dont know if i will be able to do it my self....the hardest thing ive ever done is replaced my cat with a test pipe....but: 1. i know alot about cars, but i dont know if i could do a turbo..im only 17. 2: i have money to spend right now, once i buy everything i will be in the hole for about a month maybe 2.

And just so everyone knows i am not a spoiled little rich bitch, i paid for everything on my car and my actualcar(my dad gave me 4 grand to buy a car) I mow about 30 lawns a week.

I knowi could save like 3 grand if i install my self...but i dont know if i could i could install a FMIC my self, Fuel injectors my self, (ive taken out the turbo b4) I dont know if i could take out the exhaust manifold, the entire front of the car off, install a bigger down pipe, new turbo manifold inlet piping or what ever that is called. Sean 1.8T did you install it your self, if you did...you will be getting alot of PM's from me in the feature

well, if you took your car into the shop and said "i want a BT setup with all the whistles, i'll be back in a week to pick it up" then yes, i could see it costing $7,000.

but all parts for the basic but full BT setup should come to about $4000-$5000

turbo-1200
clutch- 500
exhaust- 500
FMIC- 1000
software- 600
injectors- 200
manifold- 400

and installing it isn't the hardest thing in the world. it just takes time. and a little know how of how everything works.

here is even a DIY for installing an APR stage 3+ kit ---->http://www.a4mods.com/index.php?page...ages/apr3.html

I think you are a little low on some of that stuff....Is that what you paid? B/c the turbo alone is 2300, at least the one i bought. http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...ory_Code=VVWTK

I have a stage 1 clutch w/ a fidanza flywheel, so i should be good w/ that at least for a little bit. And what kinda exhaust do you have, b/c all the 3' exhauts for the b6's are at least like 800 bucks minimum. I havnt checked into software, but i want to go w/ revo, and im guessing like 1000 bucks for that, manifolds i think are like 320. And i kinda want to do a DIY ebay fmic, but i have no clue how do install a fmic in the first place, so it might be best for me to go w/ the pre built.

well you bought a complete hardware kit. which includes:

manifold
turbo
wastegate
oil/coolant lines
downpipe
MAF housing(you won't run a MAF anyways so you can sell this)

i was just quoting prices for each part seperately.

and as far as clutch, yes, you should be good for a while. just no launching on it.. and software with injectors will be about 700-800 bucks. call Revo technik for more information. 1-770-271-4726.

when the time comes, you will be able to do the FMIC yourself if you go with the cheap ebay route(just like $200-$300) or you can go with a kit for $1000-$1500..

and did you really spend 2300 bucks on a kit and you aren't even sure what you bought?

damn it, forgot exhaust..

find a local exhaust shop around you that does mandrel bent exhaust work. they will be able to do a custom 3" exhaust with a couple magnaflow mufflers for about $500. or a little less.. that is what i have

Cincy/Sean/Chaos- need some advice,
I know that the HP and TQ curves always cross at 5,252 rpms. TQ > HP below 5,252 rpms, and HP > TQ above 5,252 rpms. But isn't it really a combination of the tq and hp that break or bend the rods at high rpms?
All i know or think i know about aftermarket turbos is what has been postedhere in the last couple of weeks.
I'm stillnot sure on the differences between the gt3071r or gt3076r?or the gt28rs vs the gt2871r that chaos will most likely buy.
Ialso think i understand that there are differentsizes within thecases ex..63 or .64 or .86. where the lower #s like .63 spool faster and create more low end torque than the 0.86. but the 0.86 has more flow and less lowend tq. thisreminds me ofhow an exhaustpipe withtoo big a diameter will cause an engine to lose torque (but allow for more flow and hp).

anywaywhat is the best setup to get for:

1.a dd commuter(mostly highway) - must be reliable, but i want this car to go fast and have good pickup.

2. how much hp/tq or what are limits you wouldSAFELY push a stock 1.8t with 155k well maintained (ie- synthetic oil changes regularly)and
whatsetup will get meto the point just beforemy new 2.25" Borlacat-backexhaustwill bea bottleneck? -at the time i didn't wantto splurge for the 3" APR cat back...

3. Not sure i want to get into changing the clutch right away, but recent posts suggest it's a must. it is what it is.

4. I see no point in buying the chipor software until i have the injectors and turbo to put it to use. uless it is simple to upgrade software to the chip and i can do it at home.

and is there a site that has all these turbos specs and costs side by side for comparisions and compatabilities with ecu chips or software?
Thanks.

Another thing- what is the highest recommended boost level for driving with 91 or 93 octane?
