Oil leaking on Catalytic Converter

Oil leaking on Catalytic Converter
So, I picked up the roller from the shop today. The control arms needed to be replaced (odd, but it happens). Check Engine light was on as well. My mechanic told me that my engine is seeping/leaking oil into the catalytic converter and onto the O2 sensors (which has been triggering the check engine light). It results in a puff of blue smoke once in a great while when I start the car in the morning. I actually thought it was related to the oil sludge recalls Audi has announced. I'm told there is not much I can do...eventually I will have to rebuild the engine.
Its a 2000 A4 1.8T, 106k miles...rides great...
Has anyone heard of this or had this problem. Is there anything I can do (outside of spending $3k to rebuild my engine)?
This is my first Audi, I've had it for almost 3yrs...would hate to let go.
Thanks.

RE: Oil leaking on Catalytic Converter
Seeping oil from where ?
Rings, Valve Stem Seals ?
Ask him where about
By the sound of it you say in the morning ...
and once in a while
That can mean 1 of 2 things
Valve stems are worn,
If you open you oil cap and notice any blow by then you know
your rings are gone
It would be nice to know where its comeing from ?
