RE: oil and filter opinions
For the larger oil filter for the 1.8 Audi just go here:
http://www.ecstuning.com/
The size is a 92mm 15point.

RE: oil and filter opinions
guys, remember that not all oil filters include the little valve inside (think it's called bypass valve). That valve is a safety device to protect the engine from getting all the dirt captured in the oil filter if the filter media should ever get clogged or full. Think sludge issue covering up filter media, bypass valve not present, too much pressure in the filter, dirty oil gets circulated again causing who knows what damage.
I believe Fram filters don't have this bypass or anti-drainback valve, along with other cheap filters. This is why OEM (Mann, Meyle, Bosch, etc.) are the best.

RE: oil and filter opinions
just bought mobil 1 0 40 euro blend full synthetic, going to buy the mann 5 pack from ecstuning.com... remember guys my car is a 3.0 not 1.8t... the 301 filters are for the 1.8t... thanks for your help!! and are there any precautions i should take with this kind of oil, ie, longer warm ups, and i live in upstate new york where the temps are 80-95 in the summer and like 0-20 in the cold winter days, will this oil work all year round or should i use diff grade oils for the diff temps?

alright, thanks chaos... hey when i see these sludge posts here n there, and get a bigger oil filter to prevent it, those are mainly for the turbo engines right? becaise if i get a mann filter and i will be usin the 0w 40 mobil 1 changin it every 3000 to 3500 miles then i shouldnt have anything to worry about right?

RE: oil and filter opinions
yeah, the sludge problem is mainly with 1.8t because of the low oil capacity and oil pickup tube. you shouldn't have any sludge problems with your 3.0. just hope to god your cats never get clogged. and you can go 5k-7.5k no prob between oil changes with full synthetic, some even do 10-15k but thats pushin it IMO
