yeah thats pretty bad when the shaft breaks. Im surprised the motor wasnt hurt at all. Did the compression test pull straight across the board, no cylinders were considerably lower? I guess thats a good way to buy one, then you know your starting off perfect. As long as it doesnt have sludge build up.

Im going to have to check out the G-popshop

Oh its blown bigtime the shaft broke due to a feed line blockage. I went to the guys house to check the car out befor i bought it he had already removed the turbo. There were no pieces missing from the turbo veins but I did a compression check just to be safe and all 4 were good so i bought the car.

G-pop also sells rebuilt turbo's - so your not puting on a turbo from 98 with a ton of miles on it.

I just checked them out. Pretty decent pricing. a K04 for around 600 is a pretty good deal. I wish I could just make my K03 a K04, lol.

I just checked out that site too, actually you can make your ko3 into a ko4 for $100 i think. Go back on the site and check it out. Its under turbo upgrades. I might actually consider buying a rebuilt ko3 and upgrading it to a ko4 thaks alot akielb

Yes your right but if you but a rebuilt ko3 from them it's only an extra $100 to upgrade to a ko4 which would come out to about $575 plus shipping. not bad

That would fall under a good deal

Yeah I know the difference isn't that much between using your old turbo or rebuilt one from them. Its up to you - allows you to put he $125 somewhere else

About the car - has the timing belt been done? if you don't know or if you don't have a receipt saying when it was done, I would suggest doing it just to be safe. I can't wait till my turbo goes - see thats what i love about these cars - no matter what goes wrong you can always turn lemons into lemonade Good luck
