could bad o2 sensors lead to turbo failure? and could they also trigger the check engine light? because mine came on the other day -although the manuel says its "check emmissions." i kinda wanted to wait on it because i need my car for daily driving this week but im gonna be outta town for the weekend so i thought that would be a good time to get it fixed...is there any real danger in waiting? The light came on last friday and i would bring it in this friday. And could this light also have to do with why im getting terrible gas milage, about 11-12 MPG?

This what the light looks like, i know its the check engine light but the manuel says its check emmisions and if its blinking then there could be cataltic coverter damage...mine is not

yeah thats what i was thinking too, but then i brought it in and they said it was a vacum hose and they would fix it for about $100 and see if that fixed the problem, they said its prob the same reason that im getting about 11-12 MPG in gas

should be getting it fixed tomarrow, ill let ya know how it turns out

Get them to show you which hose it is and then go change it yourself.

 

yeah, thats what i should have done...it was $20 in parts and $100 in labor, it was there for like 1.5 hours and they charged me $45 just to get the error codes (which i allready had, and tell me what i needed to buy). But they fixed my vacume line and said that when they had it hooked up the a machine that the Air mass meter was fluxuating a little, they said that might have been due to the leak and it might reset itself but they wern't sure.....

sure hope i dont have to get that AMF replaced, they said that if i did it would be about 300-500 for the parts, and god knows what for the labor.

But the check engine light is off.

And it seems to be idleing a little rough in nuetral for some reason

 

You can get an MAF for anywhere between $50 and $250 at ECStuning.com - depending on your engine code.

 

I got a MAF for less that $100 from the dealer after a shop had quoted me $350, Id look around its not hard to install your self.

As far as the shop you are using, I would bring it to a place that sepcialized in audi/VW's if "the MAF might reset itself they weren't sure" all the readyness codes can be reset by someone who knows even a little about the car.

 

well the shop that i did take it to does specialize in audi's...but they have been know to be very pricey, somthing i experenced when getting my hose fixed... but if i did need the MAF replaced then would it be okay to take it to any other shop, or should i find another one that specilizes with audi's/VW?
