Noisy tires - Michelin Pilot Primacy
Hi,
I've got a 1.8T 2003 with stock rubbers: Michelin Pilot Primacy 16 205/55.
These tires were very quiet when new, but now with 50,000Kms on it they are very very noisy. Mind you, the treads are still pretty thick. They sound like 4wd tires and quite often I have to pump up my radio so I can't hear the annoying sound. Anyone out there with the same tires, beware. I'm changing mine soon.

RE: Noisy tires - Michelin Pilot Primacy
Good question. Audi services my car, I don't think they have rotated them. My tires got loud around 35,000Kms.
Check out this link. It got poor results on the "noise comfort"

I'm thinking of getting the Khumo ECSTA ASX 215/55 16.

I have a set of the 205 60/15 ECSTA's on my stock wheels and I've been very happy with them. I do remember those Mich's were loud. Night and day when I replaced them.

I almost bought a set of Kumho ECSTA ASX but a friend talked me out of it when he told about the uneven wear problems he had. I bought the Continental ContiExtremeContacts instead. They're quiet, do great in the rain and pretty good in slush and snow too. The price I got for the Conti's was only $5 more per tire than the Kumho's. The tread pattern is pretty cool too.
