Well obviously his car is dead, so even if a thief broke in, they better bring a battery and tools with them to fix the car and get it running to drive off, as well as a way to hotwire the ignition since they dont have a key.

There's always the old fashioned way if all else fails, but I think Id call AAA first.

My drivers side door lock has always worked when I used my key with the battery disconnected.
