Newly Purchased 97 A4 Engine Sound
Ok my girlfriend recentlly purchased a 97' audi a4 QT it sounds like valve training to me so i changed the oil and filter but sound persist
listen to the sound here: http://outtacontrolx.com/files/audi_sound.mp3
tell me if the engine sound normal or if it sounds like a problem also hints to what the problem might be?
also how 'potent is this car supposed to be? like is it get up and go or what? im shure this turbo charged 4cyl should have a faster 0-60, then 8seconds??
i drive a supercharged 3.8L v6 so it feels very weak to my average 0-60, but shurely 8secs for a 1.8 turbo? is something wrong?
(btw, if thats average please dont take that as a insult the car is nice driving and stylish i might add )

Lol did someone steal the motor and put a TDI in there it almost sounds like the valves are out of adjustment or something but then it also has the sound of almost like an exhaust leak or cracked mani by the turbo..... oh and I wouldnt expect anthing much from the stock motor 8 sec is a good time for them

*shivers* valves come to mind...but it does sound like a exhaust leak. maybe a waterpump on its way out.

sounds like valves to me also...they are a hydraulic valve system...so try running some type of cleaner that goes into the oil on your next oil change....might get some of the dirt and crap off them...if not... then you can replace the lifters and see if that goes better....does it quiet down when the engine gets warm? if it does then it is valves. but that is all i have for you from the sound clip anyways...but it doesnt sound good..sorry mang
