Default Newbie question Please dont flame.

I have a 1996 audi a4 2.8 car is amazing and got it for a killer deal but it didnt come with a owners manual. There is a button on the column between my front driver door and rear door on the bottom below the seat belt near the floor (i hope that helps enough describing where it is) I dont know what the button does when I push it nothing happens so maybe a fuse is blown or it controls some light where the bulb is out, but I wanted to know what its ment for.

I have the same button,it turns the sensors for the alarm off in case you want to lock the door but you have, say, a dog or something inside. That way it doesn't set the alarm off.

da604a is right, it's the motion-sensor disarm button.

You press it once, Shut the doors and alarm it.(motion sensor off)

When you then unlock and relock it , it's on again. (motion sensor on)

I thought it was a weird-A** place for a button too,

So does the light on signify that it's off? I assume that's true but just looking for clarification.
