Hey guys, I have a 99.5 A4 1.8T (tip). I need a new battery and also a new alternator so I am wondering if there is any suggested brands of batteries for the audi (I also have a 1900Watt sound system in the car so i need a nice battery). Also where is a good place to get an alternator and what is the average cost w/install if anybody knows.

There is a aftermarket alt. that someone resently asked about. But the batt. i would go with optima or hmm i cant remember the battery name that i got a few years ago. Its a purple deep cycle that out performed the optima by a lot, it also weighed like 50lbs. If i go to my mom's ill post back with the name.

 

How do you know you need both alt+bat?? Did a mechanic tell you this?

 

^ +1, I'd replace the battery and check that the alternator belt is
tight. Does the voltmeter read 14V when driving in the daytime?

 

chances are you need one or another, if you want an awesome battery, spring and buy an Optima, not once did mine ever let me down, and I will be buying one for my audi eventually.
