Need a little more Bass

RE: Need a little more Bass
thanks man. it took me 3 days to get it all finished and installed.
while i was letting the glass cure i worked on the wiring. when i got pissed off at the wiring i worked on the glass. before i knew it my ear drums were tingling
its not super loud cuz i have the gains turned down, but it sounds SOOOOO good. it basically rounds out the Symphony stereo which was great sounding to begin with as far as range and clarity......but fell on its face in the bass deparment.
i'm definately happy with the results. my mom wants me to put one in her Jetta. haha.

i got brrman's old box from his sedan and it looks exactly like mmmboost's. since you've got a b6, you might have to relocate the factory bose amp, if it's in the same place as it is on the b5s

RE: Need a little more Bass
I also installed a sub in the driver side, replacing the storage cubby. There is a surprising amount space behind the panel, which I filled with a custom made 3/4" MDF speaker box. The volume was a little short of the manufacturer specs, but stuffing the box made up for it. The three mounting points for the storage bin make excellent mount points for the box, resulting in an extremely rigid installation (which is absolutely key to getting the most out of your sub). I put a second 3/4" MDF panel on the front of the box, cut to fit the opening left by the storage bin hole, to bring it flush with the panel. I finished it off with a 1/4" pressboard panel covered in leatherette that matches the color, texture, and grain of the leather interior. The sound is awesome, producing a surprising amount of volume for a single 10" cone. (The amp is mounted upside down on the ceiling of the trunk). The whole installation can be reverted to stock by reinstalling the cubby and its door, although the door would need to be attached with new hinges.

I like all your setups that are shown. Problem is I got a B5 with the changer exactly where your subs are mounted i'm looking for the same solution as pandaxpress. The passenger side of the trunk seems too small for a 10" woofer.....BTW the stealth box from jbl......will the passat B5 model fit mine?

I've never worked on a B5, so have no idea what kind of space is available. It's easy to find subs that can be installed with 6" or less depth, and require as little as .5 sq ft sealed enclosures (Crutchfield.com is a good place to easily lookup specs). If you haven't already it might be worth measuring the space available.
