Default Need Help On Getting Equipment For A4

Hey , I wanted to start learning on working on my own car instead of constantly gettin ripped off by mechanics. I was wondering if there was certain tools i should buy that I would probably need and any books or stuff I can buy that will teach me ALOT about my car and how to modify it or fix it. I really am willing to learn all this stuff. Going to school to learn this stuff is too long , ( 2 years ). So im trying to take the faster/easier route.

Any help would be appreciated.
thank you

Uou can get a Haynes manual for 15 dollars to start. Up the ladder is the factory repair manual by Bentley which costs 80 or so.

The haynes is for beginners and helps with learning. The Bentely is much more detailed but assumes some familiarity and skill.

I'd start with a pair of wheel ramps, socket wrenches and allen wrenches in metric sizes and a torque wrench, spark plug gapper.

You can start with basic maintenance like oil change, filters, and spark plugs.

If you have a couple of hundred, and plan on keeping the car for a while, I'd suggest investing in a VAGcom. It will pay for itself quickly.

Awesome advice.
I searched the web and ebay and couldn't find a seller that carries the Haynes B7 manual.
Any advice as to where to locate one??

Haynes wouldn't have one out for the B7 yet. They usually lag 4 or 5 years behind. They can't make any money making do it yourself repair manuals for cars that are brand new.

Try Bentley publishers for the facoty repair manual, but it is expensive, if they have it out yet.
