I'm looking to put some sort of navigation system in my audi, but I don't have 1500 to drop on the pioneer in dash touch screen i want, so i'm starting to look at hand held versions that can be mounted near the console. does anyone have one? know of brands or models that are good/ bad? Also I have only started to search for information on this and if there is anything I should know that would make choosing one easier, it would be appreciated. Thanks

 

The Pioneer you speak of is an excellent choice! I would wait a month or two and collect the money for that...the new one looks very tempting...almost rather have that than a chip or exhaust!

I have heard good things about Garmin and Magellan products although price range is a deciding factor in how good you can go...if you live and drive in a big city I understand that you can sometimes lose your satellite like XM radio when surrounded by very tall buildings...

 

I Bought 'Smart Nav' from Nav Now, the unit is awesome, i get in click one button speak to a live operator tell him/her where i want to go and im off! it cost me £799 that was for the unit, touchscreen, and installation.

It is a great sat nav unit, but it also takes into account traffic conditions, and there is the option to have speed camera warning aswell, its pretty impressive for under £1000.

wow you guys do it the "fancy" way.... I just print out mapquest.com's directions and tape it on the dash, sure does trick all the ladies to thinking my ride is high tech! LOL
