the only important thing is that the long tube(which is on the different sides when comparing the n75j and f)(which is why I say reversed) is plugged into the intake. That cannot be disputed if people look at both valves. Lets drop the subject.. I just wanted to make sure no one else ran into the same problem that I did. Thanks for everyones help though.. mine is working perfectly now and id definitely recommend the upgrade

it has nothing to do with the car. Look at the pictures of both valves, they are not the same. Literally no boost, read on a vag com.. I have felt limp mode and that wasnt it. My friend plugged it in the first time when it choked.. and he didnt plug it in to the ecu. This is a technical question I dont see why people are getting defensive. Simply look at a picture of both.
Now that i look it is listed as compatible. Maybe you killed it when you initially installed it in reverse? When you had vag com hooked up looking at boost, it was while driving the car right? Also, you said youve experienced limp mode before, do you know what caused that?
What the hell? Its working perfectly now??? I thought there was no boost?

I may have said reversed two times meaning two different things..and for that I appologize I was unclear. I was driving around with it in while it was incorrectly installed for about 20 minutes with a vag com.. which is when I had problems. When I reversed it(to how it should be)(long tube plugged into intake) it worked perfectly. The issue is resolved. All I was doing was stating that people should make sure the long tube is connected to the air filter. no attitude required, simply helping poeple out.

I can feel a difference driving around with it.. it definitely feels better than the stock one.... but you scared me when you said that you read that my car is not compatible with the n75j. Do any 2002 or later a4 owners have a j in their car even though it is incompatible? Is the list you read published by a place I could contact to find out if I am hurting my car by having it in it. thanks for your help

well that says my car works with the n75h(which is the ecs race valve right?) Can I assume my car is ok with the j too then?

As far as I know, the n75 valve that ECS uses and labels as the "Race valve"is the J versioin. Do you see "H" listed anywhere in that link i posted? I could be mistaken, but thats what ive always thought. I thought the J valve is more aggressive than the H version and you can only get the H from the dealer...
Looks like im wrong!! ECS n75 race vlave is the H valve. Looks like i need to change my signature pic!
As long as you dont go into limp mode with the n75 J from overboosting, you should be alright.

haha thanks for all your help onepoint... it doesnt seem to be overboosting right now but ill keep my stock one just in case I ever need to put it back in. I am installing a boost gauge soon(I recieved the gauge from 42draftdesigns but am waiting for the pod to arrive) I just logged a few runs on the vag com and was peaking at about 2170 mbar(which is about 18 psi) Thats about exactly where it should be I think

18psi sounds accurate since most people with apr boost at about 16psi. Your J valve probably added 1 or 2 psi.
