if it was a known fault then it would be on the recall list and Audi would have to tell you by law so I doubt they are just keeping quite over it the consequences would be very high and a law suit would follow, I think that garage is using your car for cash from the warranty and dragging the job out which is not uncommon
That's not quite true. If there were a "saftey" recall, that would be have been issued by the NHSTA and the manufacture must then comply with the law.
In the event of true "recall" then by law they will notify the owners of the facts.

However, Audi like any other manufacturer may have a KNOWN problem with a defective part, but that doesn't mean it's a recall nor recallable.
When a manufacturer has a known problem with assembly or a part, they can issue what's called a "technical service bulletin" or TSB.
That TSB is internal knowledge and is not required to be disclosed to the public. A TSB is an internal memo with a possible solution to a known problem if a customer comes in with such a complaint or problem. The TSB can be done under warranty, and if the car isn't under warranty the dealer can charge for the repair. The customer can then make claims with the manufacturer that there was a known problem and seek remedy.
However, a TSB is very distinct from a "recall" under the law.

hahah i remember working at goodyear and if the guys that worked the front desk didnt know what was going on they would totally try to say some stupid ****. making stuff up left and right. and a lotta people would buy it.

so if its a fuel system problem they oughta have it out in a jiffy and back on the road. tell em to hurry the eff up.

I just read this for the first time. What a joke. Sounds like the biggest load of BS that I've heard in a while. Disgusting incompetence.

where did I mention TSB?? but I understand that quite well, I was talking recall issue because they said its happening to many A4s so you have to draw a line on TSB and RECALL dont keep quoting me im well aware of the laws and how to interpret them

reading this for the first time and it makes me wonder if that dealer knows what "quibbling" is...

anyway, I searched my All Data Pro for TSB's related to your A4, I found three that may be related:

Audi TSB# 240505
Title: Engine Controls-Cold Start and or Warm Engine Stall
Issued: OCT 28/05

Audi TSB# 010603
Title: Fuel-Drivability Issues Due To Low Quality Fuel
Issued: JAN 26/06

Audi TSB# 010604
Title: Engine-MIL ON and or Misfire DTC's and or Runs Rough On Cold Start
Issued: MAR 15/06

I also searched the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation site and found this:
NHTSA - ODI Technical Service Bulletins Search

Seems like these guys are not completely competent, don't give them any more excuses to keep your car longer than normal(less than a week). If there is another Audi dealer in your area/state, I would see them as well.

Best of luck to you.

I forgot to mention that there were 22 known instances for TSB's related to Audi A4s on the NHTSA-ODI site. A few are interesting, there are fee's involved if you want to see the entire write up on them. I can also get the 3 other TSB's I found on ADP and email them to you.

I was also wasting time waiting for the movers and located nine Audi dealers withing 50 miles of your area:

You didn't mention TSB, I did. But, you should have. I didn't quote you.
Again, just because it may be a known problem to Audi, or happening to many A4's, that does not mean it's a recall.
You said it again.
