Curry's Auto is a good shop. They have several in Northern VA. But, as mentioned, have the car scanned for codes. Once you do that, go here and plug the code in. If it's an Audi specific code, it'll tell you what's wrong. I think Auto Zone will scan for free, but other stores may as well.

I'd scan for free, but I'm not there! I think Carquest, and Checker/Schucks/Kragens will scan for free as well, at least they did where I used to live.

OK guys, I drove it to AutoZone and got the "codes" the first time I ran it it (AZ lady #1) gave me 3 codes, P0300 "multiple cylinder misfire detected" P0303 "cylinder 3 misfire" and P0304 "cylider 4 misfire" I figured that it might be a coil pack or plug issue so I switched the top two coil packs with the bottom two packs and recoded it. This time I got the same with an additional one P0301 "cylinder 3 misfire" Well I got to discussing it with a guy (AZ guy #1) in the store and since he had a socet ratchet I pulled all the plugs to inspect them. I didn't find anything crazy except for the gaps that were at 35-38, so I re-gapped them all at 28 and put them back in (not the same order)

When I asked him to code it again he asked if "lady #1 had "cleared it" I said no I don't think so? He said that if it was not cleared, thats why I got the additional codes. Sure enough he coded it and got the same "P0300 plus all 4 cylinders". He was reluctant to clear it since they had been victim of a law suit for doing it, be through persistance he did. Re-coded it and got P0300 and P0301 only this time.

OK heres where you brain trusts of the A$ 1.8T come in. I have know Idea of the full history of this car, so should I be saying screw it and put all new plugs a coil packs in? I can't believe that this is the only problem cuase it happend so sudden.

Also I am attaching a photo, can someone tell me the firing order from back to front, so I can better trouple shoot this. As always hit me with what you think!

#4 cylinder is in the back, near the firewall. What year is her car. If it's before 2000, it may be the ignition control module.

Cylinder order is 1-2-3-4, front to back. Firing order is 1-3-4-2. Since her car is an '01, there is no ICM. Very likely one or more coil packs.

Buy all new plugs (whatever AUDI recomends). Clear retest. I can tell you how to test coils packs but it is hard to explain without you seeing it first hand. I believe it is a spark plug problem. AUDI RECOMMENDED PLUGS

90% of misfire codes are caused by spark plugs, 75% of those misfire are caused by incorrect spark plugs from places like Autozone and the good better and best sales approach.
