Default My daughters A4 just went to crap! Help!

Last night she came home and said that the front end was shaking and that her windsheild washer fluid light was on so I went out and filled it with fluid. I noticed that her tire on the right front was low so I filled it / checked them all. Went out for a test drive to see if it was OK and sure enough that was it. On the way back I got a check engine light and now it will hardly run, no acceleration. No oil pressure light but the gauge barely comes off of the 150 mark. Also the exhaust manifold on the passenger side (with the OX sensor) is glowing red? never saw it like that before and sure way too hot! Where do I start? This car was purchased used and we have not been to a garage yet. Any good Audi repair shops in the northern Virginia area? Thanks! Mark

have it scanned for fault codes, I think it could be the catalyst but that's just a guess

Dude. Never buy a vehicle without having a mechanic check it over. If it "hasn't been to a garage yet" take it to a garage and have them look it over top to bottom! Preventative maintenance is ALWAYS CHEAPER THAN POST FAILURE MAINTENANCE!

Is it automatic? And what do you mean by it will hardly run? As in... When you accelerate it revs high and goes no where? Or it literally just doesnt respond and goes no where..? Let us know!

It sounds like possibly a clogged catalytic converter (only thing I can think of that would restrict the exhaust enough to make it that hot). See if there are any codes being thrown. A clogged cat will also cause it to run really poorly until fixed, making it hesitant and powerless. I know of someone back home that had this happen on a 1.8T he had, and it turned out to be the catalytic converter, now that I think about it.
