FYI, the proper spelling is Santorin. Before I had my 2001 (silver) A4, I had a 98.5 Santorin. One of my 3 favorite Audi colors next to Imola Yellow and Nogaro blue.

i'm looking at a 96'A4 2.8 quattro, but it has 100k miles. Is that too much, or will it work fine?

That would be the 12v V6. It's a nice solid motor, but as far as modding it comes, you don't really have many options. If you are happy with the performance out of the box and don't want to mod then go for it. As far as modding goes, the 1.8T is the motor of choice.

I don't know too much about 12v maintenance, but just look out for things you would on any car. And definitley have an Audi knowledgeable mechanic look over the car before you buy.
