I want to get some of that material that NASA uses on the space shuttle hull and use that as a head shield!
it's ceramic. you could ceramic coat a heat shield if you wanted to, just like you can do an exhaust manifold, or the hot side of a turbo.

Maybe I'll take a ceramics class next year and make a kickass heat shield.

I don't know what it's called but there's stuff you can buy that's fibreglass insulation sandwiched between two thin layers of aluminum foil. stick some of that stuff on your heat shield and I bet you'd notice a considerable difference in intake temps.

you stick it on the turbo side right.... im guessing. were would i get such a thing

to those of you who have made a custom heatshield...

I have a couple of questions...

first of all, how the heatshield sit at the bottom... in other words... how far down do u put it in and how and what does it attach to at the bottom....

do you guys remove the stock heat shield?


any general advice or things I should look out for??

any help will appriciated...

just go take a look its pretty self explanitory where it will sit. and yes you remove the stock heat shield.
