Hi guys, first post here...
The car I am looking at buying($17K) has a MTM package installed from NZ new.
Any ideas what this includes? Chip, Kit, Badge... What else?

Could I just get a cheaper, standard A4 ($12-$15K) and build the same car from scratch? Or what am I missing here?

145kms
Black with Black leather Black 17" BBS wheels (Hear a theme here?)
Seems to have a muffler upgrade but not sure how much piping has changed.
Also remember it had a carbon airbox.
The dealer said something about it being laggier than normal, and having a larger wastegate, but how can i tell?

Has woodgrain dash, are these interchangebale with carbon or silver ones?

 

isent the MTM package like a 1.8T package? if so then theres something wrong with that car cause 1996 only came in v6 no 1.8T unless your not in USA. plus 14k for a 12v 2.8 with high miles is seriously just ripping you off no matter what it has lol.

 

Yeah, you're right, it's a 1.8T - Do you know what comes in the package?

i thin the mtm means its turbo cuz in 96 the euro cars had a 1.8 na motor so maybe the mtm added the turbo

Thanks gjc04. So if I'm reading the MTM site right, these add up sequentially...

Stage 1: 110kw - 138kw = Chip

Stage 2: 138kw - 142kw = Rear exhaust with twin tip

Stage 3: 142kw - 155kw = Mid exhaust + piping

Stage 4: 155kw - 162kw = Downpipe + Steel Cat

Stage 5: 162kw - 177kw = Larger Turbo (KO4?) Manifold, injectors.


The dealer claims that the car is 286hp!!!

Since 177kw = 240hp, All these upgrades plus more would have had to be done to the car.
I was expecting more from the claimed 286hp, so unless it has been detuned or the boost wound down, I think hes making it up???

 

Ok, so turns out the car has been sold. Doh. Well, I am learning so much about these cars, I am getting a good idea what to look for. Thanks for your help.
