Default moving chip from one b5 to another

Hi, im buying a chip of my mates 97 1.8TQ and moving it to my 1.8T (FWD), we have the same cpu number.

Im wondering how difficult this is, and if anyone has a write up on it?

would it be a straight fit or would i use vag-com (which i have) and how... thanx

are you switching ecu's with each other?

if so, i think there is a walkthrough on www.goapr.com or www.giacusa.com

its pretty easy, under the wipers.

no no sorry guys, the ecu's remain in tact, its just the chip is being removed from one b5's ecu and placed into the other b5's ecu, (both ecu's same number) however the original ecu is Q and the new ecu is FWD...?
